The ABCDE Project

Activities Bringing Creativity & Developing Enjoyment for 0-5s

Powys Child Development Fund - Small Grant Application

This project will engage children and their parents/guardians with a range of painting, foraging, clay creations, cooking, plant I.D. & leave hunt sheets, animal sculpture pine cones, crafts from waste such as rag rug broaches & T-Shirts into bags, walks in the park, music. Hands, Feet, Nature, Numbers & Words clay tiles which will be installed as. Steps.

The sessions will take place at venues such as the Country Park at Craig-y-Nos; Community Centres at Brecon, Talybont-on-Usk, Hay-on-Wye, Ystradgynlais & a woodland near Talgarth, plus opportunities for others at home and in the classroom to engage with the hands, feet, nature, numbers & words clay tiles.

They will address the five senses:-

 

1 . SIGHT – Look for things to use to make crafts and paint pictures, later watch videos that have been made about the craft workshops and walks.

​

2. SOUND – listen to the chimes made from the woodland bells that they have created or the noise from the ducks they feed. As well as joining in a sing-song at the theatre at Craig-y-Nos country park.

 

3.  TASTE – experience the delights of Kids Kitchen cooking.

 

4. SMELL – enjoy the smell of plants in the outdoors & the smell from the sensory plants & the flowers from the seed bombs.

 

5. TOUCH – our crafts give a range of touch experiences from getting their hands in clay, pictures painted with their feet.
