About the Event
Lizzy owner of Pippin & Gile will guide you through the process of making your very own coil basket. These baskets can be made from any natural flexible materials, from larch or birch twigs to long grasses and rushes, even long pine needles work. Learn this ancient art, and create yourself something that is both beautiful and practical.
The workshops will take place over zoom, and will give you lots of time for instruction, to try it out yourself and to ask questions as well.
No kits are required, however, some commonly found tools and materials are –
A fine material for wrapping – I’ll be demonstrating with copper wire, 0.8mm works well and about 10m – you can get this in your local florists. String or raffia also works well if you wanted a more natural look.
If using wire – wire cutters and long-nosed pliers.
If using string etc, scissors and a needle.
Flexible natural material, grasses twigs etc.
Secateurs or scissors to cut the material.
