Remember your summer holidays start with our craft festival first weekend in July

Big Skill Craft Festival, Hay Globe Friday 7th – Sunday 9th July

Artisan Stalls, Free Crafts Workshops, Story Telling, Face Painting, Craft Exhibition, Recycling, Food & Drink, Buskers Competition, Camping, Course Information

  • Try your hand at a range of craft workshops
  • Live music throughout the day and into the evening – includes Big Sky, Slippery Slope and other amazing talent
  • Daniel Morden, internationally renowned storyteller!
  • Arts & Crafts Exhibition
  • The Globe will have its bar and cafe open all weekend
  • Buskers Competition
  • In between workshops you can explore the beautiful town of Hay on Wye

Saturday runs from 10.30am – 5.30pm for workshops, with music and bands playing during the day and on into the evening too – we will close the event at around 11pm. Sunday runs from 10.30am – 5.00pm.


Visitors can camp at Racqety Farm, so your weekend ticket will include the camping & your entry to the festival. Bookings via    or Day tickets will be available in advance or on the gate; these will also enable you to access lots of free workshops.


Artisan Links Art & Craft Exhibition: Display your creative flair, develop your untapped talent, share those budding skills, link up with fellow practitioners & enter our Exhibition


Crafts in the Community: Local crafts for local people; workshops to inspire the next generation; centres for hands on rural crafts & skills training. With our Artisan & Craft Guide we aim to highlight crafts that are the heart of the community, with information of programmes & centres where craft workshops & training are being held. Charity collection: Lorraine Powers, a glass artist, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease last year & as a result has since lost her speech & become wheelchair bound, will be assisting Rebecca Buck, Osprey Studios on her stall & also collecting for MND  https://www.mndassociation.org/

For the last 7 years Big Skill has been providing rural crafts & skills for thousands of people in Mid Wales & Herefordshire.  We are now looking for crowd funding for ‘Crafts in the Community’ which will publicise & set up local courses for local people.
